CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES
The Christmas parade is always held the
first Thursday following Thanksgiving.
The 2009 parade will take place on
December 3rd. Every year the parade has
a "theme", the 2009 theme is still to be
determined. We use the theme to judge
the float entries for 1st, 2nd and 3rd
place winners. These floats receive a
cash prize between $100.00 and $50.00.
All parade participants are encouraged
to throw candy to the many children that
line the parade route.
The route for our parade begins on
Daniel Dunklin Memorial Drive.
We will line up along the drive and
adjacent parking lots, then at 7:00
p.m., we will move out East on Highway Z
to
Main Street
over the railroad tracks, past the new
City Hall, then continue East to Highway
61/67. The parade ends where
Main Street
meets Highway 61/67. The parade
route was changed last year to keep from
interfering with the traffic coming off
Interstate 55. In past years we have had
concerns expressed about the close
proximity to the large semi-trucks.
Anyone or group may join the parade, all
we require is that an application be
filled out in advance so that we know
who is participating and what type of
entry they are bringing. You can
download (.pdf) a copy of the
application by clicking the link below.
Mail, Fax or drop off the application to
City Hall before December 1st!
The City of Pevely reserves the right to refuse entry to
any float, organization, group or
individual that we feel would be
offensive to the residents of the City.
