The Christmas parade is always held the first Thursday following Thanksgiving. The 2012 parade will take place on November 29th. Every year the parade has a "theme", the 2012 theme is still TBA. We use the theme to judge the float entries for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. These floats receive a cash prize between $100.00 and $50.00. All parade participants are encouraged to throw candy to the many children that line the parade route. Herculaneum joined the parade route in 2010 and we expect to do the same in 2012.
The parade route will be determined in October/November.
The Cities of Pevely and Herculaneum reserve the right to refuse entry to any float, organization, group or individual that we feel would be offensive to the residents of the Cities.Anyone or group may join the parade, all we require is that an application be filled out in advance so that we know who is participating and what type of entry they are bringing. Parade Application
2011's parade route was as follows:
The parade will start at Pevely Elementary and will follow Main Street towards Pevely City Hall. Then it will turn onto Old State Road South to Lions Drive. Floats will then exit the Pevely area by making a left onto Lions Drive and a right turn onto Highway 61-67 (also known as Commercial Blvd.). The parade will enter the Herculaneum area from Highway 61-67 by making a left onto Joachim Avenue (the North end or top of the hill near Vinyards Funeral Home). The parade will remain on Joachim Avenue until it reaches Bates Memorial Park (Herculaneum City Park) where the parade will end.
